In India, Craps is considered a game of chance, since there is no skill involved that could affect the dice roll outcome. Playing Craps at local casinos outside of these states is illegal, and nothing that we recommend.
Online casino sites based outside of India are not included in any table game laws in India. Winning in Craps can be done in several ways. However, you also have a chance of winning without placing a bet on a number!
Furthermore, there are a number of different Craps strategies available, which will increase your chances of rolling a winning number. Our Craps strategy guide explains the most popular and easy-to-use strategies available.
Using one or more of these is fun, and it also makes you feel like a proper Craps expert. This is the craps interface. On the right-hand side, you can see the Hardline bets.
On the right of the Hardline bets is another, identical, setup of the Craps bets. The betting interface is shown twice on a table because, in land-based casinos, one table can simultaneously have lots of players.
The Odds bet is a zero-house edge bet placed on the Pass Line bet once the Point has been established. Due to its non-existent house edge, the amount you can bet here will be determined by the size of your Pass Line bet.
There are lots of different bets you can make in craps and covering them all would take a small book, but the good news is that you need to know only one or two easy bets, because the rest are sucker bets anyway.
We'll ignore the bad bets completely. Once you've learned the rules you can practice online for free at Bovada. Each player takes turns rolling the dice.
The player who's rolling is called the shooter. Everyone bets on the the same roll of the dice, whether they're the shooter or not.
The shooter keeps rolling until he "sevens out" rolls a losing seven , and then the next player gets to roll. Craps is a game of rounds. A round can last just one roll or a whole bunch of rolls, depending on what's rolled.
The first roll of a round is called a Come-Out Roll. If you get confused, just wait for the next Come-Out Roll, and everything will start over.
The basic bet is the Pass Line bet and it pays even money. Make this bet by waiting for the Come-Out Roll hockey puck set to "OFF" , and then putting your chip s on the area of the table marked "Pass Line".
Now we're ready to roll! The shooter rolls the Come-Out Roll, and it's always the total of the two dice that counts. Here's what happens based on the total rolled:.
The number that was rolled to get to the bonus round is called the Point, and a marker is placed on that number. Find the marker in the picture, to the left of the word "Bovada" on the top.
The marker is set to "ON", meaning that somebody already rolled and we're in the bonus round. And because the marker is on the 4, that means the shooter rolled a 4 to get us into the bonus round.
Notice that on the come-out roll seven makes you win, but in the bonus round seven makes you lose. This is confusing to newcomers, and that's why it's important to know where you are in the round.
On the first roll, 7 is good. But if you go to the bonus round, 7 is bad. All other numbers are irrelevant. If any other total is rolled, you ignore it and the shooter keeps rolling.
When a seven is rolled before the point, causing you to lose, that's called sevening out. When a shooter sevens out the dice pass to the next shooter.
Place Bets - This is a bet you can only make after the point has been set. It's a bet that a specific total will come up before the shooter rolls a 7.
For example, no matter what the point is, you could make a place bet on a total of 4. If the shooter rolls a 4 before rolling a 7, this bet pays off.
Field Bets - A place bet stays on the table until the number you bet on is rolled or a 7 is rolled, whichever comes first.
A field bet is only in play on a single roll. You win if the total on this roll is 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, You lose if the total on this roll is 5, 6, 7, or 8.
Ace Deuce pays off if a total of 3 is rolled. That's the ace and the deuce. Get it? Aces - This is also sometimes called "boxcars". It pays off if a total of 2 or 12 shows up.
Any craps pays off if a 2, 3, or 12 shows up. Hardways - These are bets on even totals that they'll come up with doubles. For example, a bet on hard 8 only pays off if the two dice both come up with a 4.
In roulette, all the bets on the table have the same house edge 5. But in craps, the house edge varies widely from one bet to another.
In this section, I'll explain how high or low the house edge is for each bet. I also give some examples of how the house edge is determined.
You'll find a detailed explanation of what the house edge is in one of my previous posts , but here's an explanation of the concept in a nut shell:.
The house edge is a statistical average that represents how much of each bet you can expect to lose. This happens over the long run, of course.
Sometimes you'll win more. The best bet on the craps table is the odds bet. The house edge for this bet is 0.
But you can only place this bet if you've already placed a pass or don't pass bet. Or a come or don't come bet. The odds of winning this bet, and the odds you'll get paid if you do win, are the same.
The house edge on all casino bets stems from the difference between the odds of winning and the odds you get paid.
In the case of the odds bet, there is no difference. The next best bets at the craps table are the most basic bets-the pass and don't pass bets.
The house edge on the pass bet is 1. Most players stick with the pass bet, because it's just more fun to root for the shooter. And since most of the other players are making this bet, you're all rooting for the shooter together.
Some players do like the don't pass bet, though. These players are called "wrong bettors". Jimmy the Greek was famous for always being a wrong bettor.
I'm of the opinion that either is fine. Any time you play a game where the house has an edge, you'll lose all your money if you play long enough.
The difference in house edge only affects how quickly you can expect to lose it. With a difference of just 0. And you'll miss out on some of the fun, which is the point anyway.
The come and don't come bets have the same house edge as the pass and don't pass bets, because the odds of winning and the payoffs are the same.
Craps certainly has some history. The game has a long history dating right back to the prominent Roman Empire. Developing each time, changes were made to the game to make the outcomes fairer.
